Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Car Show 2012

I've gotta say, VLV 2012 was the funnest year yet. I was really happy with my design and overall style. I went for the vintage look this year by creating my sunsuit with a twill hounstood fabric and used a sheer fabric to add a weaved in collar and bow. Like every year, it''s spent with an amazing person and best friend, Laverne Delgado. Check out her designed sunsuit and custom feathered head piece. What a great event to look forward to each year. =)

First Outfit Ever Made by Che!

So I stumbled upon an old picture of myself wearing a tank and skirt I made back in 2004. The very first outfit I've ever made! I bought a bag of vintage ties at a thrift store and an old little girls t-shirt with a cat print on it that was way too small. I added the pink tie to the neck line of the white tank and sewed it off center. I made the entire skirt and also used fabric I had gotten at the same thrift store. I made use of the cat print from the small t-shirt and sewed it on to the front side of the skirt. Not too bad for a beginner!

Free as a hummingbird?

Acrylic on cardboard paper. 47.5 X 11.5.

So I had this blank cardboard paper canvas for about almost a year hanging above my bed and finally decided to fill it in one day after talking to a friend who inspired me into picking up a brush again. I knew I wanted some type of animal, and what better animal to describe me than a hummingbird. We eat more than our body weight, have high metabolism, and love the sweet sweet taste of nectar! "Can I get some coffee with my sugar?"

Symbolism of the hummingbird: Love, joy, and beauty.

A Gift In Need

What a great gift to give to a family member! My precious little cousin Melissa who came to visit from Houston, Texas was in desperate need of a dress for a QuinceaƱera, also known as a "Sweet 15". Hope she didn't steal the birthday girls thunder. She looked amazing!

Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Car Show 2011

My second time at Viva was amazing! Unlike last years sun suit, this years was more thought out in the construction process using three contrasting colors. I used the red bandana pattern to throw off the solid colors and used a gathered technique on it for texture.

The gold exposed zipper was used for the closure. It was also added as a sexy back accessory for eye candy.

And who would have thought I would find my soul mate. A match made in heaven! Like last year, cant wait for next year.

Pillows!

Why buy a gift when you can just make one?! I decided to make these bird pillows for my sister's new home for christmas.

Picture quality not so good, but you get the gist of it. Bird size was approximately 20" x 14" and about 5" in thickness.

I have many ideas to come!
